Have you ever watched a man and his dog play with a frisbee? Basically a frisbee
is a dog toy. The guy stands pretty much in one spot and throws the dog toy. His dog
races as fast as he can possibly run, judges when the frisbee will start descending
and leaps into the air, catches the frisbee and brings it back to his master. The same
scenario repeats itself for an hour or so until the human has to take a break.
The dog was just getting started and is thinking:
COME ON, COME ON, IT'S A DOG TOY, I'M A DOG, THROW IT!!
Then we have the quasi interactive dog toys, such as the ball launcher. The energy required
of the human is to place the ball in the launcher. The responsibility of the dog is pretty much
as above. The dog runs, leaps, catches and returns the ball. What a dog toy!
Last but not least and actually the most popular (with humans) are the passive dog toys.
Human involvement requires that the new dog toy be handed to the dog. The dog takes
it from there and plays with it all by himself.
Moving on to our furry felines---No self respecting cat would fetch, so forget the frisbee.
But the cat toys they adore are cat wands and teasers. As long as you dangle that thing in front
of your cat, the kitty will play for hours. The passive cat toys are what keep your cat occupied
while you're at work and kitty isn't sleeping.
Think about yourself taking a day off from work. Sounds inviting. Suppose for a moment
that you could not drive, watch TV, turn on the radio, read a book, make a snack, go outside or
use a telephone. You would be really bored! That's how your pet feels. PET TOYS keep your pet
interested, occupied and happy. He needs his pet toys.
Do you brush your pet's teeth? Many people don't and cats and dogs are usually happy that
you don't try. Buy some dental sticks. Pets love chewing on them and the result is cleaner teeth.
They love them and they are pet toys.
The great thing about pet toys is there are so many different types that you
can gear your purchase of a cat toy or dog toy to the activity level of your pet.
Let's face it, a frisbee for a 16 year old bull dog is a bit bazaar. But a frisbee for a
1 year old border collie is an excellent dog toy choice. Some dogs have such a
high energy level that if they are not occupied with dog toys, they become
destructive out of boredom. And because cats are so inquisitive, if they are not
occupied with lots of cat toys, they'll create a cat toy; like your best chair or your
favorite something. It's called kitty boredom.
